The Good Samaritan

There are times when I think of how difficult it is to teach the very basic theology to a 6-yo child. But God has proven that He will always be with us when we are doing His work.

Because we are learning Sonlight as our homeschool curriculum, we are learning very basic theology about human and God as our bible lesson. I loveeee how they have packed these lessons in a very understandable lesson day by day.

We learn about who we are as human, how we have fallen into sins, how badly we need a savior, Jesus as the Son of God, how He saved us, how we are new creations in Him, and so on.

So one fine afternoon, during our lunch time, he told me something that amazed me so.

S  : "Mummy, do you know the story about The Samaritan?"
M : "Yes, why?"
S  : "I am thinking about it. The Samaritan who helped the wounded Israelite. Do you know that it's God who put in his heart to help? It's God's love in his heart that makes him able to love the Israelites."
M : (quite surprised with his understanding) "Did you just learn this in Sunday School?"
S  : "No. I just thought about it. So when I can share and love others, it means God's love is in my heart."

His Words certainly never comes back in vain. Although a lot of times, we might be tired, but God will strengthen us. It is only by His grace...

Monkey

On today's science lesson about living and non living thing...

Mummy : "Animals are different from human. Most of the animals are wild. They will jump around,
                  climb around."
Steward : "Yes."
Mummy : (trying to tease Steward) "But I have a little boy here who likes to jump and climb around.
Is this a human boy or a monkey?"
Steward : "I'm not a monkey!"
Mummy : "Oh no? But why do you like to jump and climb around like a wild animal?"
Steward : "I'm not a monkey!"
Mummy : "No?"
Steward : "No. I am just naughty sometimes."

Jesus Will Heal You

We were playing pretend play. He was a doctor, holding a toy stethoscope and a toy injection. He was injecting me.

Me          : Ouch! Doctor, you hurt me!
Steward  : It's ok.
Me          : No, it's not ok. A doctor should heal me, not hurt me.
Steward  : It's ok I hurted you. Jesus will heal you.

Go Diego Go

We were watching Go Diego Go, one of Steward's favorite cartoon. On one of the scenes, Diego was climbing a tree,"Come on Amigos, put your hands up and climb, climb, climb."
Me         : Put your hands up, Steward. Climb climb climb.
Steward : I don't want, Mummy. I'll look silly.
Me         : *lost for words*

Beetroot

Steward : I like to eat beetroot
Me         : (quite surprised) Why?
Steward : Because a lot of mosquitoes like to bite and suck my blood. So I need to replace my blood
                with beetroot.
(We once learned about healthy food and what it does to our body)

He is Healed by Jesus

While I was preparing medicine for Steward, he hid behind a wall and started to pretend play with me. (For the record, he doesn't like the taste of the medicine)

Steward : (with a deep and big voice) What are you doing Novelia, my mummy?
Mummy : I am preparing medicine for my son.
Steward : You don't need to give your son medicine anymore. He is healed already.
Mummy : Are you sure?
Steward : Of course I am sure. I am Jesus. I know everything and I already healed your son. So there is no need to give him anymore medicine.

She Didn't Understand

We were at home discussing about our last trip to Penang, the friends that we met, the places that we visited, etc. We had this discussion while having dinner.

Steward : Mummy, why did Uncle James scolded Eleora for not opening her mouth while eating?
Eleora, open your mouth big. Big. Not small.
Me         : No. Uncle James were just joking with Eleora. He didn't really scold her.
Steward : Why?
Me         : Because Eleora is a baby. She didn't understand almost everything that we said.
Steward : She didn't understand? *thinking*
Me         : Nope. She didn't.
Steward : If she didn't understand, then why she likes to scold me and Gabriel when we teased her?
Me         : *lost for words*
